Sharon Hee

Embarking on her musical journey at the tender age of five, music has always played an active role in Sharon’s life. She had been the class pianist and the school’s Harmonica Band during her days at St. Nicholas Girls’ School.

Since young, Sharon has always possessed a passion for teaching music. She joined Cristofori School of Music as a music teacher in 1999 to 2001 upon completing her tertiary education in engineering. Subsequently, she left the School to teach at Music Workshop in 2002. With a mind fully submerge in music learning, Sharon left Music Workshop after a year to pursue a formal music education at LASALLE-SIA COLLEGE OF THE ARTS where she recently completed her Diploma in Music (with Credit) in June 2005.

During her two-and-a-half year course of study at LASALLE-SIA, her diligence and excellence in studies earned her the college Awards twice. She has scored Distinctions in subjects like Pedagogy, Music Analysis, Aural Skills, Orchestration, Performance Practice, Keyboard Harmony, Song Writing & Composition and Conducting to name a few.

Sharon has always been actively involved in the performance scene. She has played at the Cristofori School of Music’s Intermezzo in 2000 at Victoria Concert Hall and at Music Workshop’s concert at Alliance Francais in 2003. In LASALLE-SIA college days, she had also performed numerous times at the college lunchtime concerts.

Sharon plays not only piano but also learned the violin under tutelage of Mr Lim Soon Lee. In addition, she played the various percussion instruments like marimbas and xylophones among others in the percussion ensemble at LASALLE-SIA under the guidance of SSO’s percussionist, Mr Lim Meng Keh.

With a constant goal for upgrading her music skills, Sharon obtained her DipABRSM in Teaching (2002) and DipABRSM in Performing (2004) under the guidance of Khoong Shok Meng and Arkadisuz Bialak respectively.

After her music studies at LASALLE-SIA, Sharon rejoins the Music Workshop in July 2005 to continue her teaching passion.

In 2006, Sharon pursued and attained her LLCM(TD) in Pianoforte with Mr Ng Kok Cheow. She left Music Workshop in the same year to continue private teaching in piano.

To date, Sharon has a long teaching career and experience of fourteen years since 1999 and has produced many students with good results in both their practical and theory examinations. Some of her students have gone on to teaching piano in music schools.
